It’s never an easy decision to choose which shoes to bring with you when you are on a trip. It’s almost like choosing which child of yours to abandon. /melodrama

I think it is especially hard when you are leaving home for a long period of time – you’ve got to consider footwear for every occasion, as well as take the weather into account. I wish shoes weren’t so heavy so I could bring every pair with me.

Here are the “finalists”: shoes which I think are both comfortable and functional, and most importantly, shoes I will wear often. Nothing worse than wasting luggage space on a pair of shoes you may only wear once.

The boots.

Clockwise from top: H&M Engineer booties. Exceeding comfortable and practical. Doc Marts lookalikes from Bugis Street. They don’t look like much, but they are a godsent when there is lots of snow around. Ann Demeuleemester wedge boots. One of the most comfortable pair of shoes I own, and I can wear them for slightly dressier occasions.  Dolce & Gabbana lace up boots (loot from the Club 21 accessory sale!). They seem awesome for cooler weather, and I can wear them when I don’t want to appear too sloppy.

The shoes

L-R: Yves Saint Laurent trooper pumps. Because it’s absolutely necessary for you to pack at least one pair of shoes for formal occasions. And who knows when you might need it for themed parties? Aldo pumps: I am still waffling about bringing this pair. I might swap it for more “everyday” shoes instead. Vvestiges balenciaga inspired wedges. Purchased from the lovely Venetia! Part of me rather doubt the practicality of open toed sandals in where I’ll be heading, but they look too good worn to be passed up. My toes will just have to be wet and freeze. Aldo wedges. I am unsure about this because they are open-toed as well, but at least I can wear these with socks!

Dawn and I went on a crazed Etsy search for accessories and I stumbled upon a site which had pretty neat rings, they were affordable and of decent quality.

I bought something which looked like the YSL arty ring, which I wanted to try on before deciding if I should blow a larger amount on a ring. I don’t think I’m quite suited for it? Maybe I should wear it out more often to let it grow on me first.

The other ring is a horizontal cross knuckle ring, which I had the Forever 21 version in silver.

The rings are from snefter on etsy.com. Do note I am not endorsing them, merely stating where they are from.

I’m still awaiting a ring from another store, I hope it arrives when I’m home.

Labels such as Prada, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Chanel all have one thing in common -  all of them have put forth a series of luxury iPad or iPhone cases this coming holiday season. I think these cases would make a really lovely Christmas or Birthday surprise. (if spending upwards of $500 is something you can afford to do of course.) I have listed a few of my favourites here!

  • Yves Saint Laurent iPad case, 795 USD.
  • I love how understated and elegant this case is. The design is reminiscent of their Chyc bag, with a singular golden “Y” logo clasp used as a closure. I also like how it is a “book” case as opposed to slip cases. These kind of covers provide so much more protection and having to hold on to your iPad and slip case at the same time can be so cumbersome. However, I can well afford to buy another iPad at $795 so this is definitely a “pass” for me.

Verdict: Nice to look at and lovely to own, but I refuse to buy accessories that costs more than the item itself on principle.

  • Tod’s iPad cases, available in various covers and finish. Yours for the all time low price of $4900.
  • No, I did not add an extra zero when typing the price. It is indeed priced at a whopping $4900 USD. At this price, it’s literally in a league of its own. Tod’s is famous for their leather products and you can be sure than this iPad case can withstand the tests of time, if you have 5 grand to drop on an accessory.

Verdict: It’s cheap. No, really, get it. It’s only 5 thousand dollars, what’s the big deal? That’s like, only the down payment for your annual rent.

  • Burberry London leather iPad cover, $450. Available HERE.
  • Made of granulated buffalo leather with the logo embossed in the front. I love granulated leather for my bags and wallets because it is “scratch-proof”. Scratches shows up easily on smooth leather but granulated leathers are more hard wearing, and this case is lined with soft suede to offer maximum protection for your beloved iPad.

Verdict: I like it. The zipper closure is convenient and it ensures that your iPad is fully protected. Plus, I have a secret love for bright red accessories so this Burberry London leather case in Red is on my Christmas wishlist!

  • Dior Homme iPad case, Price unavailable.
  • Sleek, minimalistic and sexy. These are the 3 words I would use to describe this iPad case from Dior Homme. It comes in black tie leather and classic coated canvas. Unfortunately, it will only be released around December so the prices are not yet available.

Verdict: My verdict will greatly depend on the price, but it gets a tentative “yes” from me because it looks like it belongs on the set of The Matrix. It happens to be one of my favourite movies of all time and I love, love the visuals in that movie.

  • Chanel iPad case, $1555.
  • As usual, things from Chanel doesn’t come cheap.$1555 would probably get you a nice bag from other labels. This iPad case from Chanel comes with its signature quilted leather and a logo charm, as well as an external pocket to store extra things. The handle on the side leads me to believe that it is meant to be carried as a bag as well.

Verdict: It is certainly elegant and classy, but I am more of a fan of minimalistic designs. This bag/case is rich in visuals but falls short of what I want as a case. And at $1,555 it is waaay beyond what I’m willing to spend, even if it IS Chanel.

  • Louis Vuitton iPad case, available in classic monogram and Damier Graphite. $366
  • What can I say, I am really not a fan of monograms. I think it is tacky and loud, and I personally gravitate towards more understated items. I do like Damier Graphite however, but I wish it wasn’t a slip case. I find slip cases irritating and they don’t do anything to protect your iPad when you are using it.

Verdict: It will probably make a great gift at the slightly more affordable price of $366. But as I have mentioned above, I do not like slip cases and will probably be giving this a miss. I will rather buy the matching iPhone/Blackberry cases in Damier Graphite.

Designer iPad cases certainly do have their appeal. They are beautifully designed and made of sturdy, durable material that will probably last you for a long time. However, unless I suddenly come into money, I probably wouldn’t spend more than a couple hundred dollars on a good case. The Yves Saint Laurent case and the Burberry case in red are definitely on my wishlist this Christmas though!

What do you think? Will you buy them? Or do you think they are way overpriced and overhyped?

I have thought about documenting the items in my closet for a while already… but I’ve decided to splice it up by items because the entire task is just too daunting. Plus, my closet is in a perpetual mess. Anyway, I have listed some of my favourite shoes at the moment!

All my shoes are black of course, I haven’t really seen the need for anything else. But I’ve been thinking of getting a pair of nude heels as of late.

First up is this pair of Aldo wedges. I believe they are inspired by Givenchy. Shoes like these aren’t usually my style, but I just love the inward-sloping wedges that gives the shoe so much more character.

Flats are for the days when I’m carrying heavy items or will be doing lots of walking, or just when I’m feeling plain lazy. We all have days like that. The only flats I have are all boots, I just don’t fancy how most other kind of flats look. These pair in particular are from H&M. The perfect lazy day boots!

No…these are not the famous Miu Miu maryjanes, though I wish they were! They are from Forever 21. I have a pair in polka dots as well! These were sold out within days on the online store, and I am not sure if they are even in the Forever 21 stores in Singapore yet. My boyfriend drove to almost half a dozen F21 stores before he found a pair for me. Alas, they are half a size too small..so if anyone is interested, I will let them go. EUR size 36.

Stella McCartney inspired wedges by Australian brand Siren. They are so comfortable! My go-to shoes for comfort without compromising height (along with my Sonia Rykiel for H&M wedges, pictured above)

I think every woman needs a pair of pumps in her closet, they give the perfect illusion of long legs! These are the Trooper heels by YSL.

Now that you’ve seen some of my favourite shoes, what would you like to see documented next?

(Please don’t ask for bottoms….I am sorely lacking in that area! Time to remedy that)

We’re back we’re back! Did you miss us? No? I will take that as a yes anyway.

As you can see, some of our posts have been eaten up by the Omnomnomasaurus during our server migration, but fear not! We’ll be embarking on a heroic crusade to rescue them soon. Anyway, here’s the much delayed post that was supposed to be up before our site went aw/ol on us. Don’t be too hard on it, though. I had a good talk with it and it managed to seem somehow remorseful.

Enough with the rigmarole, I can’t believe it is already the third -and final- challenge! Its truly a mixture of joy with a tinge of sadness. It may signify the end of sleepless nights editing the pictures and fretting over outfits, but also the thrill of hunting for an outfit and shooting with a tight deadline looming over our heads. I have not only encountered new friends, but also explored beyond the boundaries of my comfort zone when it comes to fashion. Thank you Tampines1!

  • Cardigan: BossiniStyle, $59
  • Top: Dorothy Perkins, $46
  • Skirt: Topshop, $76
  • Hair corsage: Topshop, $19
  • Necklace: Diva, $13
  • Diamante ring: 5.90, Chameleon
  • Shoes: Yves Saint Laurent

When I first saw this cardigan, I was at a loss of how to coordinate it. Even my mum said that it “wasn’t something you’d normally wear”. It’s true, I’ve get to grow out of black/studs/buckles/zipper obsession. The delicate crocheting details immediately reminds me of the whimsical romantic silhouettes I saw in Chanel’s famous s/s 10 show. Hence I chose to keep the colours within the same palette, and coordinated the outfit with the recurring theme of black bow against nude background in the top, skirt and shoes. The neckline is embellished with sequins and printed motifs, which I feel keep the top from being too plain and blending together with the cardigan. The soft floaty skirt complements the top perfectly, and the bow detailing immediatedly brings to mind the YSL cage heels in silver from their spring 2009 collection. The delicate silver keeps the cage detailing from being too distracting and overpowering, and the black velvet bow then ties the whole outfit together. (Pun unintended)

Somehow I had the misconception that the more you pay for the shoes (i.e. designer), the more comfortable they would be. Well, let me dispel this rumor once and for all. This pair of heels are as uncomfortable as a rectum examination. Not like I had one, but you probably didn’t want to know that anyway.

What do you think? Are designer shoes really more comfortable, or are you just paying for the brand and the design?
