It has been a while since we have featured editorials on this blog, but once in a while we stumble upon one that just sweeps us off our feet. I came across an editorial aptly named The Color of Night while doing my usual rounds on the Internet and I just loved every single look. Not surprisingly, it’s styled by the flawless fashion goddess Kate Lanphear.

More pictures available on Elle.com. I’ve never really paid much attention at all before to Emporio Armani, but these pictures have definitely put the label on my radar.

We were just surfing karmaloop (our favourite past time – Internet Window shopping) when we came across these nOir jewellery x Barbie™ collaboration pieces! nOir jewellery really have the most marvellous collaborations (see what I did there, ha).  I think this Barbie collaboration is my favourite yet! I love how girly and edgy these pieces are. Most Barbie accessory collaborations tend to lean towards juvenile, but I would wear all these pieces in a heartbeat. My slight fanaticism with Barbies as a kid might have something to do with it.

I love how chunky the chains are on this necklace. Anything daintier would make it too girly. This is definitely a statement necklace for the bold dressers!

My favourite piece has got to be this set of stackable rings! I have always wanted studded rings from nOir, they are so understated on their own, but add them together and they add a punch! I would expect hot pink jewellery to look tacky, but these aren’t in the least.

Other pieces include keyfobs in delightful shades of gold and pink. I could really see Nicki Minaj rocking all of these pieces!!

How long has it been since our last DIY? *checks* HOLY S**T.

Guess we haven’t been very productive, I remembered how some people told us they enjoyed reading it. Sorry. (._.)

This time we have a simple DIY to do, it’s a collar with chains that acts as a necklace. I honestly don’t know what else to call it but I guess you get the drift.

We’ve got the collared choker thingama from Miu Miu a few seasons back and that proved to be quite a hit and I guess giving our own twist on this thing might make it a little more interesting to wear.

For this we would need several items:

  • Old shirt (or a new one which doesn’t fit your boyfriend’s ugly shirt. We used a cheap shirt we got from Primark London.)
  • Chains
  • Pliers
  • Unpicker
  • Needle and thread

First, use the unpicker to unpick the stitch line which holds the collar stand to the shirt.

Once it is completely detached, re-sew that line to keep the edges tucked in and neat.

Optional: Try it on your cat for size. but srsly no, or it will do this:

See what I mean?

We’ve attached the chains to a separate holder(?) instead of sewing it all directly onto the collar, it makes everything neater. You can make it as understated or as dramatic as you like. We’ve decided to go over the top and added waterfall chains to the collar.

Attach the other side and voila! your very own waterfall chain collar necklace.

It’s certain to jazz up your outfit. It’s something that can definitely be done over the weekend.

Also, let us know if you have any DIY requests! We’re always looking for DIY ideas. :D

It is really not easy to find laptop sleeves that are 1) Cute, and 2) Not too bulky. I stuck with my practical (but ugly) Memory Foam laptop sleeve for the longest time, simply because I couldn’t find a good replacement that didn’t cost a bomb. Sleeves for Macbook Pro 15″ are harder to come by as well, so I think I have struck gold with this leather envelope sleeve.

Camel really isn’t a colour I’m used to carrying, but this works so well with the manila envelope feel the sleeve is going for. My only complain is that the string frayed after only one use. It’s easily fixable though, I just have to find a similar thread.

Just a tiny glimpse of what is to come for New York Fashion Week. My favourites so far are from Hervé Léger and Rodarte (as usual!)

Hervé Léger took a break from all that bandage details they were so famous for a year ago (which honestly, is getting just a tad stale). It is replaced with belted elements, such as the waist cincher on the left and the wonderful harness neckline on the right. Camels, tans and blacks are still very much in vogue.

Rodarte’s collection is breath taking. I am seriously loving the maxi length coats, I would think they will be one of the big things this fall/winter season. This silhouette is perfection, truly. Rodarte’s collection consists of the same neutral palette – white, camel and black. I think a maxi coat or dress in either of these colours will be really trendy! Unfortunately I don’t think I am tall or lanky enough to pull this off, however tempting it is.
