Visited Amsterdam with Arissa last week. I’m so glad to be able to explore such a beautiful city with her. We were sort of disappointed that the weather was rather uncooperative, being the tail end of winter and all that. But the overcast condition actually produced some good pictures. I’m so going to miss Arissa taking pictures of me, because frankly I don’t think anyone else can top her when it comes to that!

I have been looking for a blouse like this forever, and I’m glad I managed to snag one at Zara. Zara has really stepped up their game lately, and it’s always a struggle not to spend too much money when I walk into a store.

Outfit breakdown:

  • Trench coat: Zara
  • Blouse with collar tips: Zara
  • Harness: AudraJean on Etsy
  • Skirt: All Saints
  • Shoes: Ann Demeulemeester
  • Bag: Mulberry

I took photos for this hair tutorial a while ago, but I only got around to editing them recently. We are the worst when it comes to blogging on schedule, sorry!! :( I think it’s due to how easily distracted we are. Anyway, I’ve had a few people asking me how I usually do my hair, so this is a short (and hopefully concise) tutorial! I am inspired by Dita von Teese and Lana del Rey’s hair, and this tutorial seeks to emulate something similar to those retro hairstyles.

*I apologize in advance for the quality of the pictures. It isn’t easy taking pictures with just one hand!

Things you need:

  • Curling iron, preferably around 1″- 1.5″ in diameter.
  • Heat protectant spray
  • Strong hold hairspray. I use L’Oreal Elnett.
  • A comb or a brush
  • Clips or rollers for sectioning.

1. Start off by parting your hair directly above one eye. If you have a short fringe, you can consider either parting it, or curling it under.

2. Coat your hair lightly and evenly with a protecting spray. Hot hair tools can really damage your hair in the long run, and some sprays do contain chemicals which may help your curl hold their shapes better.

3. Section a portion of hair directly above your ear. It should be about 3″ wide.

4. Curl that section of hair in an outwards motion. I find that holding the iron for around 8-10 seconds gives a good result. Avoid clamping your hair for too long – you wouldn’t want to burn or damage it!

5. Repeat the same motion for the rest of your hair. Be mindful that they should all curl in the same direction.

6. Moving on to the other side of your head. I will be curling my fringe separately, and I find it easier to section it using a roller so that it doesn’t get in the way.

7. Curl the hair on the other side of your face. It should curl away from your face as well, not towards.

8. After curling the rest of your hair, move on to the fringe. Once again, curl it upwards and outwards away from your face.

9. Now comes a crucial step. Using a brush, gently comb through your curls. You should wait for your curls to cool before doing so.

10. Your curls should look softer and bigger at this point. Apply hairspray liberally.

11. On to the fringe again! If you have flat hair like mine, I find that backcombing is necessary in order to give my crown some volume.

12. Sweep your fringe to the side and secure it with hairspray.

This is how it should look like when you are done! It will probably look much better on people who doesn’t have a five head like me.

Thanks for reading this tutorial! I hope you find it helpful. As usual, don’t hesitate to give some pointers for improvement if you have any! x

I wasn’t actually planning on taking outfit pictures that day, but I chanced into a classmate and I had my camera with me, so I thought why not? (Yes, I sometimes happen to carry a bulky DSLR with me…) This outfit is slightly boring, but it is an accurate picture as to what I wear on a day to day basis. It’s hard to get creative when you are just going to throw a coat over everything, anyway.

This trusty coat was a gift from my mum, and it was been with me for 2 winters already! Got to love basics that never goes out of vogue.

  • Fur scarf: taobao
  • Coat: Mango
  • Bag: Charles & Keith
  • Boots: Dolce & Gabbana
  • Socks / Tights: ASOS

I’ve already started to shop for spring. Can’t wait for the weather to get warmer so I can wear my spring items out!

Visited the Natural History Museum with Arissa! It’s one of my favourite places in London, probably because Singapore doesn’t have anything nearly like that. I had lessons prior to meeting her, hence the footwear and the rather casual outfit. Looking at these pictures make me long for the days where it was still warm enough to bare my legs. It was snowing a couple of days ago, and it was beautiful except for the fact that everything turns to disgusting slush after a day.

Anyway, the facade of the museum is just beautiful. If you are heading to London, I strongly urge you to pay the natural history museum a visit! Entrance is free but do leave a donation or buy a small token from the museum shop.

  • Coat: Zara
  • Top: ASOS
  • Cardigan: All Saints
  • Skirt: ASOS
  • Boots: H&M
  • Bag: Mulberry
  • Accessories: Tiffany, Miu Miu

I am by no means a beauty blogger, but I love slapping on makeup so I figured that I’d share how I do my everyday look. This is my (almost) everyday makeup, which I feel is versatile enough for most occasions! I will list the products used at the end of the tutorial. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions if you have any!

(Also, I can’t believe I am putting up a makeup-less picture here. I’m not even going to bother whining about how horrible I look to fish for compliments… Just admire my dark circles and lack of eyebrows, everyone.)

I like to define my eyebags because I feel that it softens my look somehow…also, if you can’t hide them, might as well use them to your advantage :P

Eyes: Urban Decay Naked Palette in Sin (1 + 4), Half-Baked (5), Smog (2 + 3), and Dark Horse (6+7) ✕ Maybelline mascara ✕ Etude House eyebrow pencil ✕ Heavy Rotation eyeliner.
Face: Maybelline BB cream as base ✕ Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation ✕ NARS Orgasm blush
Contour: Sleek Makeup contour kit in Light
Lips: Chanel Rouge Orage

I’m also wearing Acuvue Define Dailies in natural shine!
