Effy Stonem Sweater from Nasty Gal

I have a love hate relationship with online shopping. You can get almost anything you want off the net and it’s great that online stores offer international shipping, but that’s also the problem. I’ve been doing too much shopping online, seeing as to the places I’ve been going to are not so exciting. Shopbop and ASOS has my monies.

Then, I came across this sweater from Nasty Gal.

It reminded a whole lot of the Topshop sweater from the A/W 2008 collection that Effy Stonem (Kaya Scodelario) was wearing in one of the episodes in Skins Season 3.

An unfortunate looking screencap was all I could muster. I’m sorry Effy, you deserve better.
But I redeem myself by finding the stock photo from Topshop. Not exactly the same as the one from Nasty Gal but similar. I can deal with it.

There were still smaller sizes when I bought it but there’s only M and L now.

Style inspiration: Effy Stonem (Kaya Scodelario)

I’ve been watching Skins since it aired in Australia about 2yrs ago. I was lucky enough to catch the first episode on TV cause I don’t normally switch it on and I usually have a short attention span.

I was hooked. It was not your normal Hollywood teenage drama where everyone’s perfect looking. I followed it religiously and the one character that has stuck on for all 3 seasons (and they are filming season 4 according to her twitter) I absolutely love her.

Her character in Skins is absolutely magnetic. You are inexplicably drawn to her despite her having minimal lines in Season 1. Season 2 sees more of her views and expressions. Season 3 was a joke to her character if you ask me, they totally destroyed her.

Ok I know I’ve already raved about her in my personal blog but never her as a style inspiration.

Here’s what I’d think she’d wear.

  • Loads of accessories. Effy isn’t afraid to load on the chain necklaces and bracelets.
  • Engineer boots. But I think these Ann Dems would look fantastic on her
  • Shorts and a shredded T or a short tunic dress. because Effy looks awesome baring her legs.
