Contrary to the post title, I haven’t been feeling well at all lately, hence explaining my absence from the online world in general. I am not going to bore you with details since this is not a personal blog, but as the song goes: It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life - and while I’m not feeling good, I’m going to fake it till I make it etc.

These pictures were taken ages ago but I’ve finally gotten around to posting them.

All the pictures are taken by Caroline, thank you so much!!

Amidst all the work that I’ve managed to do for the last week, I’m surprised I actually managed to find time to shop with Jingna at Woodbury Common last Friday. The first half of the trip involved us being unimpressed with everything and we revisited some stores and bought stuff “just because”. I think we were trying to save our money just in case we saw something better at another store…but we didn’t.

These Chloé sandals were last Spring/Summer. The funny thing is, I actually bought them once at the end-season sale last year but I sold it to a colleague partly cause I wanted to buy another Ann Demeulemeester sandals instead. I couldn’t let it go this time though.

If there’s something I really lack in my wardrobe, it’s sensible belts. I have plenty of thick statement belts but when it comes to finding a proper one to hold my pants up, I don’t have any. This Calvin Klein one is reversible so should the day come where I need a white belt, I have one ready.

While it isn’t THAT warm in New York yet, I have started to stock up on shorts! The scallop hem ones look perfectly cute and I am really falling for the crocheted shorts as well. If I don’t get to wear them while I’m in New York, I think they will still come in useful when I’m back in Singapore. These are both from H&M.

While Dawn is out yodelling at the Swiss Alps, I am getting myself settled into Brooklyn so please excuse us if we aren’t updating as much as we’d like to. If anyone has any shops or recommendations on where I should go shopping in Brooklyn, please hurl them my way too.

I remember doing this Tom Binns safety pin necklace DIY a long time ago but never really had the chance to wear it out. The photos on the tutorial post did not do this beautiful necklace justice. I mean just look at it now!

Fished out some other stuff in the bag and took pictures of them. I realised I haven’t been using my Louis Vuitton planner as much as I would like to so I bought new refills. As much as I am technologically inclined, some things are just not like good ol’ analogue. I much prefer writing down my appointments and stuff on paper than to type them into my phone calendar. Google calendars is good for sharing appointments but I think I still need a copy of my own appointments on paper.

This week has been incredibly incredibly hectic for the both of us. Even sleep is a luxury we sometimes cannot afford… Anyway, we promise to have proper outfit posts again real soon once the flurry of activity has died down!

Here are some things I bought a while back in preparation for warmer weather.

Topshop “Lenny” wedges – pretty reminiscent of the H&M x Sonia Rykiel shoes I’ve had for a while, which are slowly disintegrating.

ASOS cat eye sunglasses, available here. The black version seems to be sold out but there are lots of colour variations still available!

I suspect that we might not be updating as often these few days, so please follow us on Twitter (@monoxious) or Instagram through ~minicloud (Arissa) or ~propatriamori (me)!

Is it just me, or do others also go through a phase where you fixate on one item and just can’t stop buying it?! One day it may be stockings, then lipstick, and now it’s nail polish.

I don’t even paint my nails that often – truth be told, it is usually because I do a shoddy paint job, resulting in them chipping within days, and then I am simply too lazy to redo them. Nor do I like sitting around waiting for them to dry feeling like I’ve just lost the use of all ten digits. I wouldn’t mind having painted nails all the time if I had an on-call manicurist. Alas, next life time maybe.

My current manicure consists of L-R: Essie “matte about you” topcoat, Topshop “Hidden Treasures”, Topshop “Zodiac”.

I saw Zodiac in stores and can’t help but liken them to Chanel Graphite, which I have been unhealthily obsessed with since it came out. Went home to google for comparison and swatches and the rest is history. Topshop Zodiac is apparently more green-toned and less opaque than Chanel graphite, but I sure as hell ain’t complaining with such a difference in price. Hidden Treasure appears to be a near perfect dupe for Peridot – shown below on the ring finger with a matte topcoat over it.

An extra picture to illustrate just now sparkly they are in direct light!
