It’s official, I love Haider Ackermann. Last season, I talked about Phi who manages to impress me enough for me to feature the entire collection in a blog post. This season it is Haider Ackermann who left me tingling with goosebumps as I viewed the runway pictures.

The sculptural beauty of the entire collection left my jaw hanging. How beautiful yet how absolutely raw it all looks together. I’d imagine each individual piece being able to be worn differently.

Leather is definitely one of the key fabrics used this season. Laser-cut leather? It’s definitely a level higher.

The collars are draped to perfection, we’ve been seeing all kinds of draped collar this season (Helmut Lang, Gareth Pugh, Ohne Titel etc) but Haider Ackermann takes it up one notch by featuring billowing waves of leather wrapped around the neck which changes however the wearer wants it to look. Pure genius.

And I haven’t even begun raving about the zippered corset belts. Some of them were deliberately left undone with such careless grace that makes them even more covetable and eye-catching.

And this last dress is truly golden. I’m full of praise for this collection. Definitely my favorite out of all the runway collections so far.

Hello everyone. I apologise for the sorry state of this blog. London was amazing, so much so that I completely forgot the existance of this blog that we ran out of posts. Dawn and I checked out Camden in our impossible high heeled boots, treading on stone pavements in the dreary and wet weather that is London.

I can’t believe I stopped at NYFW. There is so much to catch up now. Woeeeeeeeeeee.

So anyway, halfway between coming back from London and getting my ass to blogging, I developed some sort of an infection in my throat with medications that made me feel nauseous. I was basically sleeping most parts of the day akin to a Koala bear. I much prefer being productive. True story.

ANYWAY, I digress. Gareth Pugh. UNF.

Gareth Pugh A/W 2010

When I first saw this collection it almost jolted me off my seat. I feel that this is one of the most wearable collection that Gareth Pugh has came up with so far. Also, leather as we all know, is sexy. It is also a bitch to sew. I do not envy whoever has to sew all those panels of leather together.

Gareth Pugh A/W 2010

And I think we can all agree after looking at the countless runway pictures so far that jackets with big draped lapels will be all the rage in A/W 2010.

I should mention that I have a weakness for distressed knits, this look above just nailed it. Again, with us and the many dark crusaders of fashion with a penchant for wearing black, our options are limited to playing around with textures. I believe Gareth Pugh has demonstrated to us that Black is definitely not boring. It’s just a play of shiny and matte, textured and smooth.

Helmut Lang Fall Winter 2010 Helmut Lang manages to deliver a collection consistent with details and style from the previous few seasons. To put it in a less political way, it is bland, mundane and unexciting. It doesn’t mean that I don’t like it though. Helmut Lang Fall Winter 2010 I’m not usually a fan of prints but this seemingly terrestrial-inspired print has caught my eye. I like how it looks like when the fabric is pinched, unlike Christopher Kane’s stuff. The print looks almost dirty and random when the fabric is draped. Helmut Lang Fall Winter 2010Again, more draping as we can see here. It almost seems as though I can recreate a Helmut Lang style right out of my existing wardrobe. I might try that in an outfit post. Helmut Lang Fall Winter 2010The maxi dress with the high slit is probably the only exciting thing that is different this time round, with details down the front which I can’t really make out. Seems like a trip to the Helmut Lang store in Laforet, Harajuku is in order. Helmut Lang Fall Winter 2010 What I am glad they kept in this collection is the jackets with the draped lapels. This time, we see it with panels of fur. It is also significantly heavier in look compared to the ones we see from the Spring/Summer collection. We also see denim jackets with the same lapels and it is fur-lined on the inside in the denim line from this collection. Helmut Lang Fall Winter 2010

Rad Hourani Fall Winter 2010There is absolutely no question that black is the colour to be wearing for Fall/Winter 2010. Up till now, Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang, Ohne Titel and the like have proven on their runway collection that it -is- the colour to wear.

Rad Hourani Fall Winter 2010

My previous post suggests some boredom in seeing the same colour over and over again, it could be because I have too many runway reviews to write. I should be happy there’s more trends for me to pick out this season. Oh the irony~

Rad Hourani Fall Winter 2010

Back to the collection, Rad Hourani gives us slashed leather pants, which I like. I also spot multiple neckline openings which means that they can be worn multiple ways. I like that too.

Rad Hourani Fall Winter 2010

Then there are these exaggerated lapels, oversized really. I usually spot the less amplified version on Helmut Lang’s collection. I can’t argue who does it better but I like them both.

Rad Hourani Fall Winter 2010

What I didn’t feel was the shiny spandex leggings/tights which I refuse to show the picture here. They look synthetic-shiny, like costume spandex you buy off spandex world in the NYC Garment District. Do not want.

There’s so much black this season that I am actually getting bored. Yes, ME, an advocate for having 90% of my wardrobe black is saying that seeing so much black on the runway is boring. Or maybe I’m just hard to please.

Ohne Titel Fall Winter 2010Ohne Titel gave us a stimulating union of sheer and opaque. Mesh and leather goes well together.

Okay fine, I would actually like to take back what I said about boring, these paneled tights are what I need in my wardrobe right now.

Draping details are once again spotted, it has proved to be a long standing detail seen in many collections so far.
