Nothing makes photos more awesome than perfect lighting. I’ve often lament about how Singapore has crappy lighting cause we’re in the tropics but the day I had these photos taken made me eat those words.

I’m also using a new lens. If anyone is wondering, it’s the Canon 50mm f1.4 on a 5Dmkii body. We get asked pretty often what kind of camera/lens we use, it’s getting kinda dull.

Le’boyfriend was also the one taking photos and it seemed as though he’s getting really good at it. He was holding on to my camera for a while so I guess he got some practice. Now to train him into a “Colin”.

It’s quite funny cause he gets into all sorts of stances when taking photos. I’m used to having girls take photos for me and we’re a lot daintier (?) when switching camera angles. My boyfriend is just squatting and kneeling all over the place it’s hard to keep a straight face.

I often if wondered if Singaporeans had a unique dating culture like the Japanese. It seems like most girls in Singapore like to have their bags carried by their boyfriends. It will probably look fine if their bags are manly like the Proenza Schouler Shopping tote that I’m carrying but ladylike purses just look weird on men.

For the record, I hardly let him carry my bag unless I’m struggling with the weight. I like having my belongings near me cause I feel safer that way. If I lose my things, there will be no one to blame except myself.

Does anyone have a unique dating culture in their country they would like to share? It would be interesting to read about it.

My hair is turning a lot lighter, it looks more like a red than purple now. I think I like the colour best at this stage. :)

I had my hair dyed! This is probably news to people who aren’t following our twitter. These were taken last week and by now it has faded to an unrecognizable rusty cherry red. Actually, I have no idea how to describe the colour right now.

Met up with Venetia for tea and also dinner. These photos were also taken by her! I’m so glad there’s someone to take photos for me when Dawn is not around.

This outfit also makes up part of the “White shirt series“, this time paired up with a shredded T-shirt and skirt.

My Country Road bag which has my Cheap Monday sunglasses hanging precariously on the handle.

These awesome Dsquared skate moss shoes were featured in the recent purchases post. It’s the first time I’m wearing them out cause Venetia requested to see them after I posted them on Instagram.

  • White shirt: Uniqlo
  • T-shirt: DIY
  • Bag: Country Road

Day 2 of our trip to Amsterdam.

Love how heels elongate your legs so much. It’s just too bad that they can be rather uncomfortable.

Also managed to score this pair of Camilla Skovgaards on massive discount! Sometimes, I think shoe shopping is so much better here because our feet tend to be slightly smaller than the average sizes here. Size 37 is almost always one of the first sizes to go in Singapore.

The lighting was so good in the hotel room that I couldn’t resist a bout of self-indulgent camwhoring! I don’t think a lot of people know that I wear glasses, but I’m practically blind without them.

Outfit breakdown:

  • Trench coat: Zara
  • Skirt: All Saints
  • Scarf: m)phosis
  • Socks / Stockings: Primark
  • Shoes: Camilla Skovgaard
  • Bag: Mulberry

If there was a competition for the “Worst puns in a blog post title”, I would win hands-down. In light of our location, I wish tottering around in heels in Dam square could top as one of my special abilities in a resume. Alas, these skills I possess brings no merit to anyone.

Spotting an awful cold the day we shot this. Funny story actually, you can truly tell when a person is so comfortable with the cleanliness and lack of potholes in Singapore (despite the amount of annual rainfall we get) when you get splashed by puddle water from an incoming car in Amsterdam.  For that, I got a cold and looked absolutely divine the next day.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve worn the scarlet room’s draped dress. It’s definitely one of my favorite pieces in the wardrobe. I really hope it won’t fall apart on me considering how much wear I get out of it.

Amsterdam still proves its charm in such gloom. I only hope to be able to visit again.

Met up with Dawn 2 weekends ago in Amsterdam and decided to be really brave and bring these new McQueen knockoffs from taobao out for a spin. They were bought a few months ago and I would really love to include the link here but it seems that it has already been taken off since the sellers are moving into Spring/summer wear right now. I’ve gotten so many compliments that day and even had a salesgirl from Bobbi Brown telling me how much she needed them in her life.

The lighting wasn’t great due to the gloomy weather but it did manage to produce some hauntingly eerie effect in some photos.

And for obvious reasons, that is why they have windmills in Netherlands. My complex geometries vest was flapping all over the place. It was hard to keep a straight face while the hood isn’t staying where it’s supposed to be.

It’s also the last time I’ll be travelling for a while. I haven’t been able to find anyone who shares the same aesthetics as much as Dawn does and it’s really sad that I won’t be seeing her for a while.

Black Outfit Breakdown:

  • Pants: H&M
  • Leather Jacket (worn inside): All Saints Datya Jacket
  • Vest: Complex Geometries A/W 2010
  • Gloves: Lanvin
  • Leather Tote bag: Taobao
  • McQueen replica boots: Taobao
