Nothing spells luxury like Haute Couture.

This Fall, we’re looking at our favorite labels in the Fall 2010 Collections and picking out the trends.

With the exception of Christian Dior, most of the collections in the Haute Couture Fall 2010 spotted earthy neutrals and blacks, going back to the most basics and elegant of hues.

We are also seeing a lot of sheer fabrics being used, with designers playing on the diaphanous qualities of organza and chiffon.

Alongside translucent fabrics like those mentioned above, we’re also seeing the use of opulent laces and embellishments.

My favorite has to be the sheer cage dress from Valentino. It’s positively girly and I’m loving the bows.

Which is your favorite dress this Fall 2010?

I think it is pretty obvious that I am obsessed with hair, judging from how much time I spend on it. A good hairstyle and a well made-up face dresses up a plain outfit more than any single accessory can ever hope to do. It’s a personal pet peeve of mine to see someone with an immaculate outfit with lank and greasy hair – why bother putting in so much effort to dress nicely, only to neglect your personal appearance? To me that’s akin to wearing a chanel suit set with slippers.

That said, here are some of the hairstyles I am eager to try out this summer.

Loose waves ala Chloe Fall 2010. Perfect with a loose summery dress, and it wouldn’t look the least bit out of place in the Fall as well.

Marcel waves inspired by Dior. I have always wanted to try 1920′s inspired finger waves, but they are so hard to style! I think nothing channels elegance and timelessness like this hairstyle does. I wish I could turn back time and go to prom with perfect marcel waves.

I am sure I am not the only person that has to deal with frizzy hair during summer time. Take a cue from Proenza Schouler and make it work to your advantage!

A tousled updo like Chanel’s is elegant and casual at the same time. I prefer to do my hair up in summer – it helps me cool down so much, and you don’t have worry about hair plastering to your neck in this humid weather. Gross.

Updos are perfect for drawing attention to hair accessories too!

Alexander Wang’s braids could never get old. I truly intend on trying this out soon – it’s been long enough!

I would rather kill myself and my cat before watching The Hills, but I can’t ignore Lauren Conrad and her immaculate hair. Sure, it most likely takes a team of stylists and the best extensions money can buy to have hair like hers, but I can dream, right?

Not even gonna lie- I would do anything to have hair like hers. It’s pretty much perfect.

Who are your hairspirations? Do you think it’s okay to blog about hair and makeup, or should we just stick to clothes?

So L.A Times Magazine has came up with a list of 50 bags they considered signature bags and it’s illustrated by Jameson Simpson.

Bags are my other favorite fashion accessory besides shoes. I’ve picked out 9 out of the 50 that I really love. Maybe someday I’d own all of them. A girl can dream can’t she?

The full list can be seen in this article. as seen from joy.nu

It’s been so long since I’ve posted an outfit post. I’m so sorry for my absence.

After seeing all the runway pictures these few weeks, I’ve been very inspired by runway looks and after getting my hands on a pair thigh highs that looks suspiciously like the ones from the Chanel Spring/Summer 2010 collection, I’ve decided to put together a runway inspired look from that collection.

We picked out several details from the runway collection. Basically, the look is girly and sweet with a loose updo and flower headpieces. Makeup is light, fresh and at a bare minimum. The shoes and patterned stockings are important highlights of the look.

Added a flowery necklace to make it more girly.

Braided my hair up and added some corsages too.

The stockings are pretty fragile with similar criss-cross patterns, I’m afraid of snagging them though. The clogs are from a Japanese shoe brand called Esperanza.

Black outfit Breakdown:

  • Dress: Some shop in Dong Dae Mun, Seoul.
  • Corsage: Claire’s
  • Necklace: Diva
  • Stockings: Leg Avenue bought from Camden, London
  • Shoes: Esperanza (here’s the link )

What do you guys think of runway inspired looks? Would you like to see more of it?

Spring is finally lingering around the corner, and I am sure many of you are more than happy to chuck the winter coats into the closet and pull out your lighter, shorter spring coats. Afterall, who doesn’t want to finally show their legs after months of burying them under thick, suffocating leggings and pants? Unfortunately, going bare legged isn’t exactly an option for those of you living in chillier regions. Why not take a cue from Chanel and Ungaro and try out these whimsically romantic yet functional tights? I adore how they provide an ingenious solution for those who wants to get into the light and girly mood of spring, yet remain practical at the same time.

Patterned stockings have existed for a long time, but there appears to be a resurgence these few years. Rather than the old hearts and polka dots motif, Chanel proved to be ingenious yet again by bringing out these cross-tie stockings in the s/s10 collection which everyone and their dog raved about.

A much lesser known version of this can be seen interpreted by Ungaro with mirrored panels for an edgier look. I really like how Ungaro has paired these stockings with a frilly skirt to bring out the playfulness characterized by spring.

And here is my take on it with my winter gear. I found these stockings in Bugis Street, Singapore and I bought them because they are reminiscent of the Chanel ones which I adore. I am sure they would actually look really nice on someone who doesn’t have discarded daikon stumps for legs, though.

By the by, I might also mention that this would be a teaser pic for an outfit post that will soon be posted! Do check back later if you are interested in seeing more.

So, what do you think of patterned stockings? Would you like to wear them?
