I am kind of dreading going back to London – how did time pass so fast anyway?! It feels like I have just been bumming around doing nothing, and suddenly I have to finish an essay and pack for school. I haven’t even eaten enough chicken rice yet.

Went out for brunch at Wild Honey with Fatiha of Heels & Wedges yesterday (thank you so much for the pictures! <3). I had left the bulk of my clothes behind in London so my outfits lean towards the basic. I’m happy to be wearing tall shoes again, though!

It’s almost like choosing which child of yours to abandon. /melodrama

I think it is especially hard when you are leaving home for a long period of time – you’ve got to consider footwear for every occasion, as well as take the weather into account. I wish shoes weren’t so heavy so I could bring every pair with me.

Here are the “finalists”: shoes which I think are both comfortable and functional, and most importantly, shoes I will wear often. Nothing worse than wasting luggage space on a pair of shoes you may only wear once.

The boots.

Clockwise from top: H&M Engineer booties. Exceeding comfortable and practical. Doc Marts lookalikes from Bugis Street. They don’t look like much, but they are a godsent when there is lots of snow around. Ann Demeuleemester wedge boots. One of the most comfortable pair of shoes I own, and I can wear them for slightly dressier occasions.  Dolce & Gabbana lace up boots (loot from the Club 21 accessory sale!). They seem awesome for cooler weather, and I can wear them when I don’t want to appear too sloppy.

The shoes

L-R: Yves Saint Laurent trooper pumps. Because it’s absolutely necessary for you to pack at least one pair of shoes for formal occasions. And who knows when you might need it for themed parties? Aldo pumps: I am still waffling about bringing this pair. I might swap it for more “everyday” shoes instead. Vvestiges balenciaga inspired wedges. Purchased from the lovely Venetia! Part of me rather doubt the practicality of open toed sandals in where I’ll be heading, but they look too good worn to be passed up. My toes will just have to be wet and freeze. Aldo wedges. I am unsure about this because they are open-toed as well, but at least I can wear these with socks!

Plus, pumps are something every girl should have in their closet, right?

I love how these are slightly different from your plain old pumps. The way it curves up at the back creates a really elegant arch when worn!

These definitely fall under the “killer heels” category for me. I have no doubt it can easily cause injury (to myself and to others!)

And stop giving me a bad hair day

It’s the monsoon season again! It is really great weather for layering, but most of the time it just makes me want to stay home in some kind of a sluggish coma. This was what I wore when I finally willed myself to crawl out of home a few days ago. Black and nude is my favourite colour combination, and I just love how this dress flows. When I swish it around, the shape sort of reminds me of something organic like jellyfishes or seaweed. But then again, I may just have been watching too much nat geo.

Rain and light coloured garments really don’t mix, though. By the time I reached home, this dress was already stained with mysterious substance in at least 10 varying shades.

A post! I am truly sorry for neglecting the blog till now. I have been living the life of a recluse, refusing to socialize until my friends lured me out with the promise of food. We went to Little Part I, a quaint little cafe located right in the heart of Thomson. Jingna first introduced me to this place and their irish beef stew is really delicious!

My outfit of the day consists of a draped cardigan and wedges, both of which are birthday gifts from my friends. :D The wedges are really comfortable!

Now for some food pictures and random snaps. Now, I am not a narcissistic jerkface who only takes pictures of herself (although if you were to say that, I am not exactly going to deny the allegations) I am just not sure if my friends are comfortable with me posting their pictures here.

As the name may suggest, Little Pt 1 is a book cafe. There are all kinds of books for you to browse, from Lonely Planet travel guides to crime fiction. They welcome all used books that you do not want as well. We found a book that teaches you Japanese! Here’s a very dry paragraph talking about the industrialization of the Japanese economy after WWII.

Someone’s coffee. Trust me when I say that the majority of us are nocturnal creatures, and that 11 was way too early for us to meet.

Curried french fries. A little spicy, a little bitter, and completely delicious.

The walls are plastered with mementos from the owners’ travels and experiences. There were concert tickets to Muse, pictures taken in what I think is Melbourne, Europe, and even a map and a few pictures of Alcatraz. I really wish to go there one day!

Randomly, while walking along Orchard Road, I have noticed that the new and first H&M store in Singapore is already under construction!

I didn’t port all my pictures over when I switched laptops, so I only recently discovered a bunch of pictures I never got around to posting here when I accessed it recently. Europe in winter is amazing.
The sharper-eyed of readers will probably realize that this picture is part of our header image. The amazing thing is that this picture wasn’t retouched at all (saved for resizing and the watermark, if you want to be particular). Not saying that is picture is great, but I rather like how everything is silhouetted against the winter sunshine. Hyde park is a beautiful place.

Fluffy white swan. You can see that parts of the Serpentine lake are frozen. I am really amazed at how these animals don’t seem to be affected by the cold at all.

One of my favourite markets in London – Portobello Market. Yes, it’s touristy and stuff, but I really love the whimsical shops that line the lane. This one in particular stocks ridiculously adorable teapots and cups, as well as a cake stand. If I could carry it back to Singapore, I would!

And if you are ever in Portobello, I suggest giving the Hummingbird Bakery a try. The queue can get a little extreme on weekends though, but I went there during a weekday morning and I had no trouble getting a seat in this quaint little cafe. I had their Red Velvet cake and a cupcake. I do not exactly favour sweet stuff so they were a little cloying for me, but delicious nonetheless.

One of the displays over at the fashion section of Victoria & Albert museum. Most of the museums are along the same district (Natural History Museum and the Science Museum are literally right across the street), so I suggest you dedicate a day (or a few) to visit these places. I spent a full day at the V&A. There are so many things to see that I don’t think a day alone is enough. After touring the museums, you can take a stroll down to Harrods and the surrounding area to shop. There’s a great mix of stores there, from designer labels to FCUK and H&M.

I couldn’t possibly miss out Camden, could I? The All Saints store there is amazing, and so are the things in the Stables itself (which admittedly caters to our somewhat Gothic tastes) There’s also an Aldo warehouse outlet there, there are some pretty good finds there! One thing to note though, I would give Camden a miss on weekends as well. Camden station is exit only on weekends. You have to walk further down to another station to catch the tube elsewhere.

Covent Garden. I find the surrounding area much more than the market itself. There is a huge Urban Outfitters there that carries Vivienne Westwood Red Label, and Jingna swears that there is an amazing mussles restaurant around the area as well. You can also find a MAC standalone store there.

I took a bunch of pictures at Spitalfields Market and Petticoat Lane as well, but I did not have time to transfer them yet. Maybe another day.

Sometimes I believe that you just need one article of clothing to make your outfit stand out. In this case, I believe that my H&M bralette did the trick. Please excuse my dishevelment, I’m running a stupid flu at the moment and is currently typing this blog post with a tissue stuffed up my nostril. Glamourous, I know.

It’s a really humid day too.

I’ve had this vest-looking waist clincher from H&M for the longest time but never got around to trying to coordinating it. I guess you could say it was inspired by Alexander Wang’s A/W 2010 collection.

And as you might have noticed, I chopped off my locks!! It took me quite a long time to get the courage to snip off all that length but I’m really liking the fresher look and I’d literally wake up with a different hairstyle everyday. Bedhead is something I need to get used to.

I am sure most of my friends have seen me in some variation of this outfit. I did not realized my belt has became undone while taking the pics, so ignore that please!

I don’t like to wear accessories in my day-to-day outfits. I am either too forgetful and leave the house without any, or simply can’t be bothered as they get in the way. Sunglasses are an exception. I like to wear them to preserve whatever mystique I may or may not have. I’m wearing Prada Postcards sunglasses in “London“, which has smoked frames and orange tinted lenses. I am digging the deviation from my usual full black frames, which makes me look like an insect at times. It adds a much needed “pop of colour” as much as I hate that term.

I love this shirt from H&M. It was somewhat of an impulse buy, but I wear it with everything now. I’m wearing almost head to toe H&M, I love H&M so much it’s ridiculous.

And yes, I’m still using randomized songs from my iTunes to name my outfit posts. I can has no creativity at all.
