Arissa Ha

Nothing makes photos more awesome than perfect lighting. I’ve often lament about how Singapore has crappy lighting cause we’re in the tropics but the day I had these photos taken made me eat those words.

I’m also using a new lens. If anyone is wondering, it’s the Canon 50mm f1.4 on a 5Dmkii body. We get asked pretty often what kind of camera/lens we use, it’s getting kinda dull.

Le’boyfriend was also the one taking photos and it seemed as though he’s getting really good at it. He was holding on to my camera for a while so I guess he got some practice. Now to train him into a “Colin”.

It’s quite funny cause he gets into all sorts of stances when taking photos. I’m used to having girls take photos for me and we’re a lot daintier (?) when switching camera angles. My boyfriend is just squatting and kneeling all over the place it’s hard to keep a straight face.

I often if wondered if Singaporeans had a unique dating culture like the Japanese. It seems like most girls in Singapore like to have their bags carried by their boyfriends. It will probably look fine if their bags are manly like the Proenza Schouler Shopping tote that I’m carrying but ladylike purses just look weird on men.

For the record, I hardly let him carry my bag unless I’m struggling with the weight. I like having my belongings near me cause I feel safer that way. If I lose my things, there will be no one to blame except myself.

Does anyone have a unique dating culture in their country they would like to share? It would be interesting to read about it.

My hair is turning a lot lighter, it looks more like a red than purple now. I think I like the colour best at this stage. :)

Oh lovely hair color :) I’m planning to dye my hair like that in a few months! I can’t wait.
Hm well where I live, I usually don’t see boyfriend’s carrying the girls purses.. except Asian couples usually. And i’ve seen it alot in Asian countries O.O In my opinion it looks kinda weird, guy’s carying girly expensive purses? Haha.

YES! I realised it’s a very asian thing. I think it’s really weird too? I’ve seen guys carrying like tiny Louis Vuitton purses and it’s just really disproportionate. LOL.

I love that outfit, the sheer blouse and the chunky knit work so well together. The lighting really is fantastic!

A Malaysian friend of mine made her boyfriend not only carry her bag, but also one of mine when we were hanging out awhile ago! Granted that both of my bags were rather stupidly heavy so it was a great help…but I felt so bad for him even though he didn’t mind at all!

Thank you!! I thought I’d never wear that knit top ever in Singapore but I guess it worked out well with the chiffon blouse.

I think it’s gentlemanly to offer help to carry heavy bags but I think carrying tiny purses just makes men look ridiculous. LOL

I am actually not using any lipstick. I’m not a fan of lipsticks like Dawn.

The second last pic, it’s my favourite :) I like how the light touches your face and eyes, giving out soft shadows and glowy radiance. I also like how it gives your hair a soft, glossy look.

Hope you don’t mind me asking, are you using coloured contacts? If so, which brand are you using? They’re a very lovely shade! Either way, let me compliment you again for having such striking eyes :)

Speaking about boyfriends and handbags, I’m indifferent towards guys carrying their girlfriend’s handbags, so long as they’re not forced to do it. At one point, my boyfriend kept wanting to carry my handbag. I’ve asked him why, and he replied it’s a nice thing to do. The gesture was sweet, but I felt insulted 😛 I told him it’s as though I can’t even do a simple thing on my own, so he backed off ever since. My handbag is my personal accessory and responsibility. But him offering to hold it while I’m browsing stuff in shops is appreciated, as sometimes the bag gets in the way.

Thank you! It was lucky to have the light shine through a really big window to have the light diffused. I do love it.

I’m not actually using coloured contacts in this shot but I bought 2 pairs recently to try out. I’m hoping they won’t look stupid on me. My eyes are naturally brown but I guess the lighting made the brown look really obvious.

i love that knit vest you’re wearing in this post, quite a bummer when i read that it’s from taiwan (it’s my number one must-go country before i die) =\

on another note, i’d like to thank you for letting everyone out there know that girls do not have to dress in an ultra feminine or girlish manner or look that way for a boy to be attracted to and love her. =)

My dear you look absolutely gorgeous, love your pictures and the outfit! I just spotted you blog and you made me grin at the bag-carrying subject. I had quite a discussion with my guy, he was shaking his had in disbelief when we saw a bunch of guys waiting outside the girls toilet at a concert all clinging to their girl friends handbags. a pretty weird picture I have to admit. He then said he would never ever carry my hand bag as this was not a very male thing to do. He made me laugh, well and I can understand ;-)It looked to funny, greetings from Europe,
