A new month brings new junk. A trip to Japan has resulted in an exponential growth of handy items in my bag: I love how they make miniature version of things usually too big to carry around in your purse! Roughly from Clockwise:

  • Balenciaga City in Coquelicot. Deceptively larger than it seems and I always seem to end up carrying more than what is strictly comfortable.
  • Coach pill case. A gift from Arissa! I use it to carry my supplements around.
  • Foldable umbrella. Necessity in both London and Singapore.
  • Cape (ケープ) hairspray. It’s really my favourite as it helps my hair keep its shape without feeling crunchy or having a funky scent. This is a miniature can for touching up throughout the day.
  • Agnès B. wallet. I’m looking to buy a new wallet, but can’t decide on one yet!
  • L’Occitaine pouch containing lipsticks, lipgloss, eyelash glue, eyedrops, solid perfume, foundation, and moisturizer.
  • Oyster card and card case.
  • Keys
  • ASOS cat eye sunglasses. This is actually my second pair – I somehow lost the original whilst moving. I seem to be really good at losing sunglasses.
  • Swarovwski pen.
  • L’Occitaine EdT.
  • Sala hair perfume. Yet another miniature bottle! Perfect for when you walk past a bunch of smokers or came out of a greasy restaurant.

Barring mobile phone and your wallet, what is the one thing you can never leave without? I got to have a lipstick in my bag at all times.

Dawn has been incredibly obsessed with tassel earrings lately and we decided to make some. This is a surprisingly easy DIY and we ended up making two pairs in less than 20 minutes.

Here are what you will need for this DIY:

  • Tassels
  • Tassel caps (actually I have no clue what the proper term is for this)
  • Jump rings
  • Earring hooks
  • Craft knife
  • Super glue
  • Eye pins
  • Pliers (not pictured)

If anyone is wondering, we got all of these supplies at Brighton Accessories House in People’s Park Complex in Chinatown.

As you can see from the pic above, the cord holding the tassel together is an eyesore when the tassel cap is on. We’re going to remove it.

Carefully cut it away.

You will end up with something like this.

Stick the eye pin through the bottom of the tassel.

Pull it through and make sure the eye pin stays put and doesn’t go through the whole tassel.

Wind the loops around the tassel, you don’t even need to make sure that it is secured cause the glue will hold it together. Coat the inside of the tassel cap with glue and thread the pin through the hole in the tassel cap. Just make sure everything goes underneath the tassel cap neatly.

It should now look like this.

Do the same with the other side.

Shorten the rest of the eye pin by cutting it and making a small loop on the top of the tassel cap. Protip: stick the end of the eye pin back into the tassel cap again.

Using a pair of pliers, link the tassel and earring hook together with a jump ring.

Your tassel earrings are now ready for wear!

I really hate to sound like a broken record, we’ve had issues with people copying and pasting our entire DIY blog post on their own blog (with full instructions and sometimes even hot linking our photos).

While they link back to ours, it is foolish to assume they will still visit our blog when the full instructions are already posted on theirs. I’d hate to post a disclaimer every time I post a DIY post but this problem comes up every few DIY posts or so. We do appreciate people liking our DIY posts and we feel the best thing they can do for us is to post one or two photos and link back to us from there.

Does anyone have a proper method to solve this? We’d be grateful for any kind of suggestion.

Instagram is really like the fast food of travel photography. It is convenient, quick, and satisfying. It is by no means an adequate replacement for photos of course, but the little bites are easy to handle when you are on the go, not unlike a convenience store onigiri.

I got my iPhone literally hours before I was scheduled to leave for Japan – I think this haste is partially attributed to the beautiful photos Arissa took with hers whilst in Italy . And let’s be honest –  after being a BB user for over 2 years, I was ready to trash that brick.

Spent a week travelling around Hokkaido, Japan. While I love the tranquility of mountains and vast fields of the countryside, I found myself wishing for some of the big city bustle after a couple of days. Sapporo was a welcomed break with its busy nightlife and shopping!

P.S. Remember to follow us on Instagram for nibblets!

This brutal weather is seriously sapping every last ounce of energy away from me. If there is one thing I don’t like about Singapore, it is that we deal in absolutes like Siths. It is either ridiculously hot outside, or below freezing indoors. There never seem to be a comfortable zone in-between. I just want to wear the same outfit both outdoors and in movie theatres without experiencing such extreme fluctuations!

(Going off on a tangent, my mum commented that this jacket reminded her of what people wore in the 80′s. Seems like we are really experiencing a retro blast this summer!)

Scored these earrings from Emoda during the summer sales in Japan. The oversized tassels really aid in making your face appear smaller! Something I desperately need.

Elizabeth & James wedges c/o Shopbop. They are every inch as comfortable as they look – and I was really impressed by how fast these shoes came in the mail! I will be talking more about them on a later date.

Outfit:

  • Floral Jacket: Zara
  • Top: Zara
  • Skirt: m)phosis
  • Wedges: Elizabeth & James
  • Earrings: Emoda

Sorry for the lack of updates recently! Although I got back to Singapore a while ago, it has been a flurry of activities with me leaving for Japan shortly afterwards. And Diablo III possibly has something to do with the lack of productivity as well. Anyway, here are a few pictures Arissa took of me when we went for tea at Full House Cafe in Rendezvous Hotel!

I’ve allowed my hair to grow out whilst in London – I would have loved to keep it at this length, but unfortunately it became too dry and brittle and I had to trim off a good 4″ of it. :( This is why we can’t have nice things.

I’ve found that my solution to keeping cool this summer is sleeveless chiffon tops. Along with copious amounts of air conditioning.

Outfit Breakdown:

  • Top: Miss Selfridge
  • Skirt: All Saints
  • Socks: H&M
  • Platform wedges: Topshop ‘Lenny’
  • Bag: Mulberry
