I’ve had several requests to show what’s in my makeup pouch but never really gotten round to it. A new camera lens makes for a good excuse to take pictures of everything. I also finally got a makeup pouch that is big enough to house the Urban Decay Naked Palette. The previous Gareth Pugh for MAC makeup pouch is still really great to pack in essentials for a weekend stay.

This new makeup pouch (also from MAC) is really spacious. My lips aren’t great looking so I hate accentuating them with lipsticks. I pick really nude colours so they don’t stand out much. As you can probably tell, I can’t live without eyeliners and I pack no less than 5 in this makeup pouch.

The Urban Decay Makeup palette are really the only palettes I use right now. I much prefer the first one as the colours are a lot warmer but the packaging for the second one is great. The bigger mirror is definitely a godsend.

Whats in my makeup pouch:

  • Eyeshadows
  • Urban Decay: Naked Palette
  • Urban Decay: Naked 2 Palette
  • NARS: Outremer (Cobalt blue. probably the only bright colour I have)
  • Blusher:
    • Tarte: Dollface
    • Majolica Majorca: Blood on (a gel base stain, pretty natural looking)
    • Canmake: Cheek gradation in  02
  • Eyeliners:
    • Heavy Rotation: Perfect Liquid eyeliner (brush tip, my absolute favorite)
    • Heavy Rotation: Perfect eyeliner (pencil version, not as great though)
    • Dejavú: Perfect liner (felt tip, not too bad)
    • Dolly Wink: Brush tip eyeliner (comes a close second to Heavy Rotation)
    • TokiDoki: Perfetto Eyeliner (very dark pigments but felt tip felt rough on my eyelids)
    • Stila: Smudge stick waterproof eye liner (lies! it smudged on my lower line)
    • Sephora: Retractable waterproof eyeliner (Lies too!)
    • KIKO: automatic waterproof eyeliner (felt tip, not great)
  • Eyebrow pencils:
    • MAC: Spiked
    • MAC: Brunette
    • ZA: Ever Brows in GY70 (favorite brow pencil, cheap and good)
  • Mascara:
    • Lancome: Hypnosé Precious cells
    • Maybelline: Colossal Volume Express
    • Lash Specialist: Micro Long mascara (got this from Japan, really small brush for coating lower lashes)
    • Brow Lash EX: Lash serum (works as a base for eyelashes)
  • Foundation/Skin etc:
    • Kanebo: Freshel Moistlift BB cream (I really like this)
    • SK-II: Facial Treatment Cream Foundation (It’s expensive but I swear by this foundation, it’s my absolute favorite.)
    • SK-II: Loose power
    • Yves Saint Laurent: Touche Eclat in 02
    • Canmake: Cover & Stretch Concealer UV in 01
    • Canmake: Nose Shadow Powder (just bought this recently for shading noses, this girl does it likeaboss. )
  • Lipstick:
    • MAC: Myth (lol the only one I have in the pouch)

While Dawn is out yodelling at the Swiss Alps, I am getting myself settled into Brooklyn so please excuse us if we aren’t updating as much as we’d like to. If anyone has any shops or recommendations on where I should go shopping in Brooklyn, please hurl them my way too.

I remember doing this Tom Binns safety pin necklace DIY a long time ago but never really had the chance to wear it out. The photos on the tutorial post did not do this beautiful necklace justice. I mean just look at it now!

Fished out some other stuff in the bag and took pictures of them. I realised I haven’t been using my Louis Vuitton planner as much as I would like to so I bought new refills. As much as I am technologically inclined, some things are just not like good ol’ analogue. I much prefer writing down my appointments and stuff on paper than to type them into my phone calendar. Google calendars is good for sharing appointments but I think I still need a copy of my own appointments on paper.

This week has been incredibly incredibly hectic for the both of us. Even sleep is a luxury we sometimes cannot afford… Anyway, we promise to have proper outfit posts again real soon once the flurry of activity has died down!

Here are some things I bought a while back in preparation for warmer weather.

Topshop “Lenny” wedges – pretty reminiscent of the H&M x Sonia Rykiel shoes I’ve had for a while, which are slowly disintegrating.

ASOS cat eye sunglasses, available here. The black version seems to be sold out but there are lots of colour variations still available!

I suspect that we might not be updating as often these few days, so please follow us on Twitter (@monoxious) or Instagram through ~minicloud (Arissa) or ~propatriamori (me)!

Is it just me, or do others also go through a phase where you fixate on one item and just can’t stop buying it?! One day it may be stockings, then lipstick, and now it’s nail polish.

I don’t even paint my nails that often – truth be told, it is usually because I do a shoddy paint job, resulting in them chipping within days, and then I am simply too lazy to redo them. Nor do I like sitting around waiting for them to dry feeling like I’ve just lost the use of all ten digits. I wouldn’t mind having painted nails all the time if I had an on-call manicurist. Alas, next life time maybe.

My current manicure consists of L-R: Essie “matte about you” topcoat, Topshop “Hidden Treasures”, Topshop “Zodiac”.

I saw Zodiac in stores and can’t help but liken them to Chanel Graphite, which I have been unhealthily obsessed with since it came out. Went home to google for comparison and swatches and the rest is history. Topshop Zodiac is apparently more green-toned and less opaque than Chanel graphite, but I sure as hell ain’t complaining with such a difference in price. Hidden Treasure appears to be a near perfect dupe for Peridot – shown below on the ring finger with a matte topcoat over it.

An extra picture to illustrate just now sparkly they are in direct light!

It is excessively hard to get people to take photos for you without feeling like you are being judged for being too vain… So sometimes you’ve got to make do with quasi-outfit posts like this, sorry.

A closer look at the boots I purchased a while back! The incline looks rather high, but the serrated soles provide a great grip which makes them easy to walk in!
