Dawn and I were very privileged to be invited to the Burberry Showroom in Singapore where they had just received the shipment of the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection ready for display. We were very warmly welcomed by Lin and Ai Ling from the Marketing department.

The office is located in a beautiful building located near the heart of Singapore’s shopping district in which it was designed to be “green” and in line with Burberry’s approach towards the environment. Every detail and effort was taken to ensure low wastage and promote recycling which I thought was a very good initiation for a global fashion brand to show everyone how little effort it takes to conserve the environment.

Awesome, ain’t it?

The showroom is built to look like an actual boutique and Lin was introducing the different key pieces to us from the Autumn Winter 2011 Collection.

The coats from the Burberry Prorsum collection were really beautiful, I especially love the olive green one cause of the closure details which was seen in a lot of the collection’s pieces.

While it has never really been cool here, I think the heat has climbed to an unbearable height lately. I feel the urge to switch all the staples in my wardrobe to lighter, more airy versions. My usual black blazer has been replaced with a cream linen version, I find myself favouring sleeveless outfits these days.

I bought the tea length dress from ASOS on impulse. It really isn’t what I would normally wear, but it just brings to mind idyllic hours spent in a cafe, sipping iced latte. (Or am I being too fanciful here?) I’d pair it with cream socks and high heeled sandals :D I bought more things from ASOS as well, but they are all winter coats and stuff so I don’t think anyone would be interested. I can so see myself abusing ASOS’s student discount in the future.

I love love love this sleeveless shirt from m)phosis. It’s so comfortable! However, I’ve noticed that their prices has really gone up drastically these few years. It is becoming harder and harder for me to fork out $50 for a basic top of average quality.

I have this Mango blazer for a while already actually, I just never got around to photographing it. It reminds me of a school blazer – I think summer’s the perfect time to wear ridiculously cute or kitschy items like these!

What are some of your staples this summer?

We’ve been so swarmed with doing nothing cause we blogged so much in advance that trying to blog again when the blog posts run out means soooo muchhhh inertiaaaa.

I finally got myself a pair of wide legged pants that look decent on me. They’re more comfortable than skinny jeans and the make my legs look so much longer when they’re worn with sky-high heels.

This clutch has become a clear favorite in my choice of bags to bring out.

Black Outfit Breakdown:

  • White Tank top: Topshop
  • Wide legged pants: Topshop
  • Chain Suspenders: Topshop
  • Jacket: My Room, Far East Plaza
  • Clutch Bag: Exhibit, Far East Plaza

I am not an exceptionally picky shopper – I am not likely to return clothes or throw a huge fuss because of a small stain, or if a small length of the seam has come undone. (God knows, working retail has taught me to not be a bitch to sales assistants.) If it can be easily fixed by myself, I don’t mind it. However, something I’ve purchased recently has really disappointed me.

I bought this pair of buckle wedges a few weeks ago at a shop in Far East Plaza. I thought it was simply perfect in every way. It is unbelievably comfortable, versatile, and I found it just as my other pair of (very painful) buckle heels were failing me. It was really my favourite pair of shoes in my closet (for an extremely brief, bittersweet period) until it just….disintegrated.

The first time I wore it, the sole came straight off within minutes. Well, okay, no big deal. This happens to a lot of shoes when they are kept in storage for a period of time. I went to a cobbler and had it re-glued, and forgave the shoe completely. Then one day, when I was out running around town, I heard a weird clicking sound with each step. So I sort of twisted my body awkwardly around and found that the back end of the sole not only came off, but a portion was missing as well. I really wanted to cry then, but I was afraid no one else will understand the pain wrenching at my heart.

I am inclined to believe that the pain I feel is so acute because of how much I love it. I don’t even want my money back, I just want it to be wearable again. If I can’t find a cobbler that can fix this, I will roll up my sleeves and perform the resurrection on my own.

What are some of your most disappointing purchases?
