In the previous post where I listed my current favourite shoes, I’ve received a fair bit of comments asking me to show my bags. It’s really hard to narrow the list down because there are seriously so many types of bags and my “favourite” really depends on the occasion and what I’m carrying! I am definitely more of a shoes person than a bag person, and I’ve yet to drop a couple grand on a bag yet precisely because I can’t seem to justify it somehow. Who knows, maybe that will change when I actually see a designer bag I want badly enough for me to live on bread forever.
That said, I think the basic bags everyone should get will be a clutch or a small bag for formal dinners and functions, a large weekender/tote bag for travelling or for work or school, and a medium sized shoulder/sling bag for everything else. With these three types of bags, you’ve got every situation covered I believe.

This m)phosis tote bag would fit into the “large weekender/tote bag” category. I love to carry this bag when I’m lugging my laptop around. This bag fits my 15″ macbook pro perfectly. I used to just carry the laptop around on hand but having a bag to store it has made my life so much easier.

This seems to just be an ordinary bag, but it is what was on the inside that got me completely sold.

Attached to the lining of the tote is a smaller shopping bag/ bag organizer. If I go on a shopping spree, I can simply detach this bag from the tote and put all my loots inside. I hate carrying around so many shopping bags on my arms anyway. It’s way too easily to lose one and I can also reduce the amount of plastic bags I use. Win/win situation!

This Mulberry Alexa-inspired bag fits into my “medium sized bag for everything else” category. It may look rather small, but it is actually able to fit my DSLR or my iPad comfortably. (I have not tried to carry both at the same time however, but I believe it should fit just fine). The dimensions of this bag are a perfect fit for my iPad!

My Proenza Schouler inspired bag has a pouch that fits the iPad perfectly as well. I like to use this bag more when I’m carrying my iPad around because it’s much easier for me to reach it. I have carried my DSLR and my iPad on this bag and it fits, with room to spare for your wallet or makeup kit. It is seriously that roomy.

This Alexander McQueen inspired clutch is my current favourite. It’s small and formal enough to carry to important functions, but it still packs such a lethal punch (literally) in style.

Even ChouChou likes it

Hello there!

As you might have noticed, monoxious went from looking dark and ominous to bright and minimalistic. We went live last night with the help of our excellent, dedicated and efficient developer. He’s an absolute joy to work with and serves to remind us of our inefficiency and how big a procrastinator we really are.

Speaking of inefficiency, my days mostly revolved around playing PocketFrogs on my iPad where I like to do nothing but grind levels, watch Big Bang Theory and Community and be a horrible lazy bummer. On days where I do dress up to go out, we’d conveniently forget to take outfit shots. *shifty eyes*

I’m not sure if anyone else feels this but the appearance of the blog highly affects my productivity. Dawn and I were so relieved when the new layout went live last night. We’ve been working on it for months, trying to tweak the little details. It’s not perfect, but in our opinion a far cry from our previous one which we found to be a little oppressive.

We have many plans in store in the next few weeks so stay tuned! And we’d like to thank you for your continuous support. Hope you enjoy the new layout too!

This edition of Style Inspiration draws attention to our first fictional comic character, Envy Adams from the Scott Pilgrim comic series aka perfect female specimen. Her impeccable sense of style makes it very easy for fashion lovers to relate to and her  900 dollar boots are justified cause it makes her look so goooooood.

This are indeed Balmain boots and the coveted Emilio de la Morena dress as seen above,  she has also been spotted wearing Camilia Skövgaard boots in the comic as well. Our translation of her style in real life would be as follow:

Body hugging dress and badass shoes FTW!

  • Dress: Herve Leger
  • Shoes: dSquared
  • Clutch bag: Alexander McQueen
  • Cuff bracelet: Burberry
  • Knuckle Ring: Alexander McQueen

I’m sure many of our readers in the US might have already seen the movie, Scott Pilgrim vs the World when it was released a few weeks ago. The movie was due to be released on 28th Oct in Singapore, unfortunately the cinemas in Singapore decided to pull out, leaving local fans (including myself) devastated at the news.

We are petitioning for them to bring it here and hope that you will support our cause! Singaporeans need to watch this awesome movie.

So please please help us out by signing the petition here even if you’re not from Singapore:

Bring Scott Pilgrim to Singapore

Thank you very much.

Bought some new stuff this month!

This was a camera that you build from scratch. Basically it was from a Japanese magazine called Gakken Otona no Kagaku (大人の科学) where there are different small projects each volume. It was a lot of fun to build and I can’t wait to try it out.

A great buy was the Topshop Unique harness jacket which I found in my local Topshop store. It was the only one left in the store (and in my size!!) and I had been admiring it on Colette.fr where it was all sold out. I seem to be buying a lot more jackets now that Fall is here. This grey jacket has a beautiful cut.

The paper Birkin bag was featured here and it’s one of my favorite bags now.

The multiple buckle belt which resembles the one from Alexander McQueen  as featured here was a lucky find in a store in Far East Plaza. The other belt was from H&M.

The biggest purchase this month has to be the 13″ Macbook Pro following the untimely death of my MacBook (which was later revived, long story short; it wasn’t really dead but I had already bought another laptop to replace it.)

I do apologize on my half-assed posts as of late… I just had my wisdom teeth extracted, and between rolling around in agony and basking in self-pity, it doesn’t really leave to take pictures and write a post. My face has ballooned up to three times its original size and I just really don’t want to face life the world any more. So here’s a couple pictures of the new(ish) things I’ve purchased!

My boyfriend got this really cute cat-eared ring for me from F21. I was pleasantly surprised because it’s seriously the cutest thing ever!

And a McQueen-inspired bag from Far East Plaza. I actually double-guessed getting this bag the first time I saw it, and ended up returning the very next day to buy it. Far East Plaza is laid out so horribly and with my bad sense of direction, I was surprised it wasn’t sold out before I finally found the store.
