Spring is finally lingering around the corner, and I am sure many of you are more than happy to chuck the winter coats into the closet and pull out your lighter, shorter spring coats. Afterall, who doesn’t want to finally show their legs after months of burying them under thick, suffocating leggings and pants? Unfortunately, going bare legged isn’t exactly an option for those of you living in chillier regions. Why not take a cue from Chanel and Ungaro and try out these whimsically romantic yet functional tights? I adore how they provide an ingenious solution for those who wants to get into the light and girly mood of spring, yet remain practical at the same time.

Patterned stockings have existed for a long time, but there appears to be a resurgence these few years. Rather than the old hearts and polka dots motif, Chanel proved to be ingenious yet again by bringing out these cross-tie stockings in the s/s10 collection which everyone and their dog raved about.

A much lesser known version of this can be seen interpreted by Ungaro with mirrored panels for an edgier look. I really like how Ungaro has paired these stockings with a frilly skirt to bring out the playfulness characterized by spring.

And here is my take on it with my winter gear. I found these stockings in Bugis Street, Singapore and I bought them because they are reminiscent of the Chanel ones which I adore. I am sure they would actually look really nice on someone who doesn’t have discarded daikon stumps for legs, though.

By the by, I might also mention that this would be a teaser pic for an outfit post that will soon be posted! Do check back later if you are interested in seeing more.

So, what do you think of patterned stockings? Would you like to wear them?

Today we lose a genius in this frivolous and volatile world of fashion.

I remember looking at his earlier collections when I was in school where he was called the le’infant terrible of fashion, how daring bold his collections was and how it encompasses everything that is Avant garde.

Putting himself back as a man, not a designer, I wonder if I would do the same if my mum passed away too. I cannot deny that thoughts like this has crossed my mind too.

Goodbye McQueen. You have taken us on a beautiful journey.

I really do wish I could do a proper outfit post, but I am born and raised a tropical girl, and the cold here in London needs getting used to. So for now, the coat isn’t getting anywhere away from me.

I must admit, footwear for the cold remains a mystery to me. It’s surprising how the cold can penetrate through the soles of your shoes and socks and right to your feet. Sandals are definitely out of the question here, and I find myself (horror!!) looking past the ugliness that are uggs and actually begin to consider them. But for now, vanity still presides over sense.

Black Outfit Overview:

  • Hat: Forever 21
  • Corsages: H&M
  • Scarf: m)phosis
  • Coat: Mango
  • Socks: Cotton On

Dear readers, what are your opinion on Uggs and similar boots? Are there any occasions where they are actually acceptable, or do they forever remain fashion exiles with the likes of crocs?

OMG ACNE WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME?!?!?!?!

I am absolutely in love with these Acne boots from the Prefall collection. Wedges are just my absolute favorite and these just hit the right spot with that draped detail in the front held by a single buckle with velcro.

So ready to save up for it right now. Who’s with me???

What are the shoes that you are coveting right now?

Shoe shopping has been ridiculous. I think I clocked up 4 pairs of shoes in the last 2 weeks, with 3 of them bought in the same week. :<

I am pleased with this collection although may will agree that it is never enough. Narrowing it down to just one colour helps actually. Of course leeways will be given for awesome shoes like the YSL cage heels sticking out in that sea of black. It’s pretty impossible to see what’s what in there so I’m going to lay it out for you.

From bottom left to right:

  • Aldo wedges
  • Alexander Mcqueen Motorcycle jacket booties
  • Yves St Laurent Cage Heels
  • Stella McCartney mesh heel lookalike from Siren

middle Row

  • Jeffrey Campbell Madness boots (they are SO comfortable to wear)
  • Balmain lookalike from Anne Michelle
  • Aldo wedges (insane height)
  • Acne Atacoma booties

Top row

  • Random laced up boots.
  • Guess Maeve boots lookalike from Miss Selfridge
  • Ann Demeulemeester lookalikes from Jeffrey Campbell
  • Boots from Esperanza

Unfortunately (much to my mum’s dismay), these aren’t all of it. I just can’t seem to lug all those shoes out to take photos of them so this is like a capsule collection of my favorites. I don’t know how I can put in those thigh high boots which I bought from Zara into this picture either. So yes, my capsule shoes collection. I think everyone should have a shoe post now. I wanna see your collection~!!
