Just when I complimented the weather yesterday, it decided to be overcast today so no streetstyle photos.  Cest la vie~!
I am determined to take photos of my outfit anyway so you guys are going to have to bear with the hotel bed background instead.

I think this black outfit would be decidedly normal if not for these awesome stockings that I picked up from Urban Outfitters when I was shopping in New York. Paired with the awesome Acne Atacoma Wedges, it is absolute poetry.

I bought myself a french dessert from the famous patisserie, Laduree. Such decadence don’t you think? I had to share some with my friends so I bought them macarons.

I haven’t been to Paris for the longest time. What luck to be visiting when the sun is still shining although it’s turning cold. It’s a great opportunity to layer up and play with textures and shape.

We’re bringing some Singaporean streetstyle into Paris here, it’s like taking a fishball from a bowl of hot soup and throwing it into a bowl of iced water, weird analogy I know.

I bought this dress with a strange scarf hanging about, I have no plans for it. It was just hanging around the general area of my luggage, so I threw it in.

Upon layering it with a simple long sleeved top, I find that the silhouette resembles the Complex Geometries A/w 2009 collection. Awesome.

And it’s the perfect opportunity to wear my the Zara thigh high boots which I bought some time back while shopping in London. I wish the thigh area would fit snugly though, it all crumply looking.

Nuffnangawards_arissa-1Featuring the DIY embellished lace stockings that we made before the Nuffnang award ceremony.

I couldn’t find a dress that I liked (and I took a whole month to look for it, in London, in New York) so I made one of my own. It is very reminiscent to the Alexander Wang Goddess dress in purple. I loved the drapey details  so I draped one of my own and it only took one day to finish.

Too bad you can’t see much details here. I was laughing at how I managed to look like I only have one foot in this picture, the Acne wedges that almost every fashion blogger covet arrived just 2 days before the ceremony. Muahahhahaa~

Outfit breakdown:

  • Dress: DIY
  • Stockings: Warehouse (London) /DIY
  • Bag: m)phosis (don’t you love the chainmail straps?)
  • Shoes: Acne Atacoma Silver/black wedges
  • Acessories: really random stuff I bought from Far East Plaza, Primark (London) and Shilin Night market (Taipei)

I wish there was a better shot of the accessories I had on.

We’re a little late on this, but we think that awesome stuff shouldn’t be limited to when it was released or whether it is too last season.
So here are the awesome lace embellished tights featured on the Doo.Ri A/W’09 runway pictures.
embellished tights

We were so smitten with it we decided that we needed some bling on our lace stockings.

All you need is a bunch of bling. A delightful mix of flat sequins (cos we hate the faceted ones), Swarovski crystals and beads will transform your dull lace stockings into something awesome.

These are the ones that we are using today, I have a stash of sequins which I bought for no apparent reason, guess it came to good use now.

Here are some pointers that we would like to share:

  • Sew the embellishments on while you are wearing the stockings or else the thread that you use to hold them down might not allow for stretch when you’re done sewing.
  • Go really random from the bottom and work your way up. It’s more interesting that way.
  • Try not to sew the embellishments on the inner calf and thigh area, these parts tend to rub against each other when you walk and the embellishments might come off or get caught on each other.
  • Lace stockings with a tighter weave tends to work better since the embellishments are unlikely to get caught. Dawn and I worked on different stockings and it turns out mine always get caught cos the “holes” are too big.

And here is a teaser for the final product! Do look out for the next post where you can see them in action. We hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial! <3
