Been long since we had a decent outfit post trying to feature Singapore Streetstyle. I blame it on the lack of inspiration. : (

As usual, there’s an extensive amount of traveling due to work (do not want!!!)  but luckily I ended up in Tokyo before the New Year.

It’s a little chilly but I love the sun even if it starts setting at 430pm.

I can’t believe I actually didn’t do much shopping here. I had expected myself to go really crazy here as I haven’t visited since summer. My lovely leather jacket finally makes a debut here. I’ve been dying to wear it out but it’s crazy to don a leather jacket in Singapore. I’m also wearing the +J for Uniqlo shift dress which I bought in London a few months back, it’s been worn a few times but I never had the chance to photograph it properly. Was looking forward to the launch of the +J for Uniqlo collection in Singapore (about time~!!!) but it seems they don’t carry a lot of the pieces that I liked.

Merry xmas my dears~!!! How was your xmas eve? I know ours went absolutely divine. It started off with having no plans the night before xmas eve to having an awesome blogger gathering with some of the most awesome bloggers in Singapore like ladyironchef, jayleif and dweam.

Thanks to the awesome connections Brad aka ladyironchef has with restaurant managers, we managed to secure a table for a xmas eve dinner just 8 hours before the actual dinner itself. It’s awesome to pull strings.

And everyone was dressed in black~!!! How honored can we be?!?!?!

Dinner was at a fancy Vietnamese restaurant called Nuoc, located at the 12th floor of Orchard Central. There’s a great view of the city. They’re only 3 weeks old, do give your support.

It’s amazing how bloggers who barely know one another can just get together and chat like old friends while sipping on some fabulous lychee champagne.Cards.jpg_effected
or how things just seem to fall into place even though we’re rushing. Jayden gave us these handmade cards, I haven’t received cards in awhile, let alone handmade ones.

It makes me continually amazed by the creativity and resourcefulness of bloggers, what beautiful gifts we have and what an awesome night all in a span of a few hours.

I didn’t bring my camera along, I wish I had but an arsenal of polaroids as memento for a beautiful xmas eve was just as good.

Midnight burgers and wine, polaroids and random singing. Such beautiful memories to carry on to the near year. Merry Xmas you guys. You were wonderful company and I look forward to having a party with all of you soon. :D

OHAI there~!! It’s been long since I last blogged. It’s always a mad rush before Christmas, shopping for gifts and basking in the mood. This post comes about a week too late since I was in Melbourne 2 weekends ago. It feels like we haven’t met in so long but it was in actual fact just about 2.5mths since the Nuffnang awards.

Here’s Candice from SuperKawaiiMama and Phoebe from LadyMelbourne , we shared the same table during the Nuffnang awards and we had so much fun at our own “after-party” in Clarke Quay after that.

In the middle is our very awesome Geek blogger, Arnold aka Mr Gadget all decked out in black to suit the occasion.

I had a quick tour of the Melbourne GPO before the rest came along. Checked out the new Acne store and discovered that they still had the Acne Atacomas (in my size too), fell absolutely in love with a local designer label, Alpha60 which of course had mostly black clothings but unfortunately they didn’t allow pictures in the stores so do check out their website. F.A.T had a decent selection of stuff and they carried Complex Geometries albeit overpriced compared to what I can get from their website directly.

Phoebe had to rush off after lunch but she managed to sneak in some time to take me to one of the coolest stores in Melbourne called Somewhere Store.

We had to climb some stairs up so this was really an encouragement.

The store is beautifully spacious with high ceilings and plenty of light. I think it’s the optimal conditions for displaying merchandise.

They were kind enough to allow photos and which I believe is lacking in many stores lately. They’re missing out on so many publicity opportunities and we all know the Internet is such an awesome publicity tool. But well, moving on… there’s more photos.

melbourne_blogger outing_06
They carry items from Cheap Monday and I spotted some Vivienne Westwood Melissa shoes that I have been coveting for awhile.

Phoebe was talking to the store manager and commenting on the fact that I only wear black and he just exclaimed: ” omg she’s so Melbourne!” That kinda made me blush, but yes I am really flattered by that.

I am so touched by the AU bloggers for taking time off to meet up with me. Hope to see you all again soon~!!!

This is our first fashion photographer focus and who better to kick things off than noted fashion photographer in Singapore, Zhang Jingna.

Most of you are no stranger to photographer, Zhang Jingna’s work, in fact, many of you many have stumbled upon this humble space via the links from her blog.

Jingna is a long time friend, one of the most driven and talented individual I know and undeniably one of the young photographer to watch out for. She always manages to bring some form of melancholy and fairy tale like-ness to fashion photography which we all love.

Forgotten_Fairytales_by_zemotion

Having picked up her first camera at 18 yrs old, the now 21 yr old has come a long way with her first solo exhibition “Something beautiful” in Singapore last September in conjunction with her photo book launch with the same title.

Lost Tales

She’s also the youngest ever photographer to be awarded Fellowship by Master Photographers Association and also managed to sweep two 3rd placings in “Advertising: Catalogue” and “Fine art: nudes” in the International Photography Awards as well as the Overseas Master Photographer of the Year at the 2009 Master Photography Awards in the UK.

Opulence

The Jingna we all know is talented, amidst all these talent we just seem to sometimes forget that talented people are all human too. I lament at how some people are unable to see past the hard work that has been put in behind the scenes and think that their achievements are handed to them on a silver platter or that they are simply “born with it”. As they say “?????? ?????” which loosely translates to “A perfomance of 10 minutes on stage, takes 10 years of hard work off the stage.”

I am extremely privileged be with Jingna when she first started photography and with effort, experimentation, persistence, an eye for aesthetics and of course talent, she is the Jingna we see today.

Redemption

But we mustn’t forget the silly things we do like eat up 1/3 tub of a newly opened Philadelphia cream cheese on 2 bagels, though bagels found in Singapore just don’t cut it cause we already had the authentic ones in New York.

How she completes Taiko no tatsujin (?????) on devil mode on the PS2 and that her wardrobe is indeed a sea of black, it rivals Dawn and my wardrobe combined.

Both of us make an effort to meet overseas when we’re in the same country, it’s funny how sometimes we see each other more in Tokyo than we do in Singapore. We’re gonna countdown to the new year in Tokyo this year. :3

So this post is dedicated to one of my dearest friend and fellow warrior in the world of fashion.
